We’ve had potluck type meals with friends & family in our neighborhoods over the years. They’re a great way to eat on a budget and try different foods all in one.
Get together with your community & have everyone just bring a 2 qt. size dish of whatever they want. Make sure that you know in advance so there won’t be double dishes.
You can also try each person spending a small amount of cash on some ingredients for a large or expensive dish like lasagna. That way everybody get a large enough helping without spending a lot of money.

We love doing these get togethers, but people aren’t too friendly where we live at the moment. Hope your neighbors are though.

Bon Appetit!

DO you have an apartment or a safe place to lay your head at night? I will have no choice but to assume no, although I wish I could get more info from you before i proceed with this assumption. You did say you don’t have a home. 345-6555 is a women’s hot line for anyone who has been abused in any way-even terrified by others on purpose. 422-1111 is the Open Door Mission homeless shelter. They can give you some more numbers. Sienna Francis House has good food. 211 is United Way and there is no charge to call 211. They are the referral resource to everything you need that they know about here in the Omaha area. Tell me more BASICS. If I knew more about your situation, I could tell you more about what you want to know that you consider BASICS. 330-3360 gives away cars, you have to apply, and it helps if you have children and go to their church. salvation army might have a car program still for recovering drug addicts only. They have workers called community support workers at Community Alliance and Friendship Program in Omaha, NE that can help you get involved and more help you need. Also, they can put you in touch with a salvation army support worker. friendship is free, as well as community alliance. community alliance is on 42nd & leavenworth & also by 72nd & jones. Friendship is off 72nd & Maple on the south side. They mostly help people with mental illnesses, but if you are homeless, I am pretty sure, you would qualify as that might make you depressed as well. They are full of resources and they serve meals M-F.
