HOW BIG IS YOUR FAMILY, AND HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND A MONTH ON GROCERIES?

Also, do we shave coupons or usually buy sale equipment in sequence to save money?

I do both ! We spend about 500$ a month, and that’s just on groceries !

There are 5 (soon2be6) in my family.

There’s me (I’m pregnant too, so I eat a heap :P ), my fiance and my 2-year-old daughter.
In Australia we don’t have clip coupons. I spend $75 – $100 on groceries a week, so about say $300 a month?

Family of 5

2 adults
3 kids (7,2,10 weeks)

Average spent on groceries a month $500

No clipping coupons, I have 3 kids. No time to sit and clip anything.

Sale items if it’s a good sale and a good item!

EDIT: That includes diapers and wipes and all that fun stuff, not just food.

There is 3 of us, me and my husband and my 2 year old son. My husband is a store manager for walmart, so we get 10% off everything at walmart that is taxable. I don’t clip coupons, but we usually buy generic stuff unless it’s the kind of stuff you really don’t want to buy generic like soap, clothes detergent, etc…

We spend about $300 a month, but that is not just groceries, that is for other necessities as well like shampoo and toilet papaer. We could probably spend a lot less if we had to.

2 adults
4 kids

about 700-800 (seems high, but all four are under 6 so that makes for one heck of a milk and juice bill…lol…two are my own and two are my nieces we are raising) a month and yes I am an avid coupon clipper and sale follower we also buy whatever we can generic or store brand (As long as it still tastes OK and the quality is there)

I also have an extra 150 a month budgeted out, just in case certain things go on sale…like meats that I can buy in bulk at good prices, divide into meal size portions and then freeze and any non-perishable staples that go on sale I try to stock up on as well

There is 4 of us. My husband and I and our two boys, ages 3 and 4. We spend about $250-$300 a month on groceries. We don’t clip coupons but we do buy items that are on sale.

2 people, lets see, about 100-170 a month.
coupons, yes,
But then we only eat at home 1x a day, i work and she goes to school.
i work in a food warehouse, so I get a great deals on bulk items like ground beef, chicken, pork, frzn veggies, fish, cereal pretty much anything. Its cheaper for me by the case then at the store.

There’s 4 of us (2 adults, 2 year old, and 9 month old), we spend about $200-250 a month, sometimes I do clip, but I don’t have a lot of time to do that stuff.

All my kids are grown (thank god)

Right now my grocery bill is about 100 a month, but I have a farm. Had the mobile butcher out this weekend and he cut me up a 800 pound cow. Also cut up a older sow hog. Chickens give me eggs and I grow corn, and other veggies that we can.

Family of four ( with #5 on the way). We also have two dogs. We spend about $500 a month on groceries if I clip coupons, combine them with sales and buy store brand items instead of national brands. We love the Malt o’Meal cereals in the bag at Walmart. You get twice as much cereal at much lower cost. Kids fav= Honey Nut Scooters (Honey Nut Cheerios). I think there’s less sugar than the other brands too.

There are 2 adults and one toddler in my family. We probably spend about $300 on food from the grocery store every month, and that’s not including diapers, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. That is just an estimate. I tend to use a lot of the coupons that come out of the coupon machine (at Kroger) because they base them on products that you buy (they track that through the Kroger card) so they are things you actually buy. I also like to buy when food is on sale. Groceries without a coupon or sale price can be incredibly high!

We spend about $600 a month on groceries, including food and household items. I don’t really clip coupons much, although I do try to buy sale items. We save the most money by shopping at Costco. Bread, milk, cheese, juice, crackers, meat, diapers, and wipes are much cheaper there than anywhere else in my area.

~Sorry, forgot to add we are a family of 5.

We have 8 living in one house…4 adults and 4 children. We spend on average between $800 – $1000 for groceries. Two of the children have to have a special diet, no milk products (we buy soy for them–a little more expensive) We have to buy gluten free products and special laundry soaps because of allergies.

It’s just my mom, my dad, and myself. Usually we spend about $400 on groceries a month. Once my dad is gone next week for active duty (he’s in the military and he’ll be gone for almost two years) it will be much less. My mom and I try not to eat much with us both trying to reach our goal weights by September.

With my dad on the other hand we have to be prepared to get two boxes of cereal, two things of chicken, etc. Milk won’t even last us a week with him chugging it down all the time, lol.

I have five children and a husband dog and two cats ,rabbits and chickens …I would do a large shop once a month but I buy my meat and veggies from farmers and save a lot there ,I wont say how much I spend but it is a bit .I buy bulk and always take advantage of specials.

n2mama June 24, 2010 at 3:18 pm

There are four in my family, two adults, and two children ages 5 and 2.5 years. We generally spend between $350-450 on groceries (including toiletries and diapers) a month. I comparison shop, clip coupons, buy the store brand when it’s comparable. I only clip coupons for things I actually buy, and pay attention to the specials in the store. So instead of planning that I have to buy grapes, if pears are on sale for 49 cents a pound, we get pears instead of grapes. And if it matters, I live in the Chicago suburbs, so going to a farm isn’t a very viable option. I do have a vegetable garden in the summer, though.

reddevilbloodymary June 24, 2010 at 3:27 pm

We have three adults and two kids living in the home and we spend about $200 a week. Waaay too much, but that includes household items like toothpaste, soap, etc. I have started clipping coupons and trying to buy items on sale. I also pay attention to the per oz. price instead of assuming the larger one gives me a better per oz. price, you would be surprised!
