WHAT KIND OF GROCERIES DO YOU BUY? HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND?

Family of dual with a single 3 month aged baby. I never know what to have or what to buy during the grocery store. Today I used coupons as well as saved similar to 8 dollars. So, I know coupons help, though any alternative deals? Do we know any alternative dishes which have been cheap though decent. Nothing similar to ramen please.

best bet is to look for sales on items that are usually more expensive, like meat and seafood, and stock up and freeze what you aren’t going to use right away. also, i’m sure that there are websites dedicated to frugal cooking that doesn’t involve ramen. just have to look for them.

also, consider buying a crock-pot or other slow cooker if you don’t already have one. the cheaper cuts of meat that are usually tough are better suited to long slow moist/wet cooking, like pot roasts, spare ribs, etc..do it right, and meat will be fork-tender.

hope it helps!

My budget for 2 weeks for 2 people in 100$ which includes cleaning product, groceries, and bathroom items, such as shampoo and toliet paper..
This week, my total was almost $100 but with coupons it dropped to $82 bucks!! I splurged a little because sales were great! try shopping from sales papers, Walmart Price Matches other stores adds!! and online coupons aswell as sunday paper coupons help alot! but considering this week i had to buy hubby razors which is 12 bucks itself, i did great!

Chili is a great one, i make it once every 2 weeks, one day we eat chili, then the next day, ill add 1 cup of cooked noodles, and cheddar cheese, and wallah chili mac. Its just 2 of us aswell, so normally, 1/2 lb hamburger meat, 1 can chili beans, 1 can crushed tomatoes, and 1 package chili seasoning and a small box of noodles.

Chicken Parmesan – I buy the premade chicken patties in the frozen section by tyson, normally around 4 or 5 bucks. has like 8 patties in it, so we get tons of meals out of it! 2 chicken patties for Parmesan chicken on night, then another night i’ll bake some in the oven maybe add some chicken gravy and have corn and potatoes with it. then one night we may have chicken burgers out of it, with lettuce, and maybe so fries or chips, sometimes potato salad.. just cook the chicken fry it or bake it, add pasta sauce [1 buck] and let simmer on stove, while noodles cook, then put chicken and pasta sauce over noodles and add Parmesan cheese.

turkey was recently 40 cents a pound at wal mart, i got 2. Spent around 11-12 bucks for 2 turkeys that will make great meals! Since we have ham at thanksgiving i wont have to worry about eating alot of turkey lately.. ill make a turkey and eat for a long time off of it! Turkey and dressing, Turkey Salad, Soups, Sandwiches.
Planning your meals around sales papers help! i went from spending around 600 a month for 2 people to now, im spending around 120-150 a month and eating better!
buying premade isnt always cheaper either.
buy fruit and veggies in season, right now grapes are very cheap. Invest in a crock pot! i love mine! and make tons with it.. i have soo many new easy recipes im trying out now! Bisquick has many amazing recipes i have tried, that are creative, quick and inexpensive.
Potatoes are also good to buy, right now a 15 lb bag at walmart is 3.50$ So within the next week or 2 we will have potato soup, potato salad, potatoes with left over baked chicken made into a bbq potato, french fries, mashed potatoes. the options are endless, buy things you can use for more than one recipe, buy things you can use for the next meal aswell. Pulled pork one night with a potato then BBQ pork sandwiches the next night then if any left overs, Brunswick stew..
